Dear Agony Aunt
I need some mortgage advice please, I want to buy a house but I just don't understand mortgages.
There are so many options it is all confusing, I don't know if I want a
fixed rate mortgage, a variable rate mortgage or a mixture of both
types of mortgage.
Please help with my mortgage dilema.
Dear Mortgage Madness
I really do understand your feelings, having recently been through a similar situation.
There are many many types of mortgage available to you, finding the right mortgage is imperative as buying a
house will probably be the biggest purchase of your life and it is
worth doing some research before you tie your self to any deal.
Take the time to go and see your bank and ask them for information
about mortgage rates and the different types of mortgage they have
available to you.
- Pay off as much debt as you
possibly can each month, less debt = more money to spend on your house.
- Save money, the costs of buying a house are much higher than you would believe.
- Be honest about what you can afford each month for repayments.
- Borrow as little as possible, every ? or $ you borrow costs you ?2 or $2 to pay back over the life of the mortgage
Visit my Mortgage Information site, it is full of useful links.
Lastly, don't be tempted to over spend, no point getting a mortgage that you can't afford.
Happy house hunting
